Embellish'd is an initiative for AIDS relief formed by a group of Nigerian university students in the UK. Their aim is to showcase their designs in a fashion show depicting their message -- The importance of safe sex and its unparalleled importance in preventing the spread of AIDS in Africa. --
The event is going to be a night of music, dance, comedy, high-class fashion and makeup. There will also be food and drinks. It will be held at Regent Hall on Oxford Street on the 23rd of August, 2006 (see flyer at the bottom of page for details).
All the clothes showcased are designed by the students and the materials used are 100% African. The idea was born out of a desire to alleviate the problem permeating Africa and the belief that its in our power to do something about it. Personally, I find it amazing to see young people trying to do something positive and reaching out to their peers and the rest of the public. The event is even being endorsed by UNICEF to show how determined these people are and to see their hard work, check out their website for more details/tickets - www.embellishd.com
Please support this worthy cause! Try and attend - fashion show or after-party or BOTH. Speaking of events, there was an apparently "mad" Lagbaja concert after-party in D.C. yesterday. For more details of the rest of his live tour round the U.S. go to www.lagbaja.com
